Formerly known as the Strykers, the EPVA Jets Quad Rugby Team came into being in summer 2000 when a sponsorship deal developed between
the New York Jets National Football League (NFL) franchise and the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association (EPVA). Originally
founded in January 1990, the EPVA Strykers (now the EPVA Jets) were started and coached by EPVA’s Sports Director Angelo Nicosia
through the urging of original members Rick Lopez and Ed Suhr. The EPVA changed their name to the
United Spinal Association in January 2004.
