The Bowling Foundation ready to help bowling grow in Uganda
Far away from the roar of pin-setting machines and thunder of bowling balls crashing into pins, bowling is starting to slowly develop a following in the African country of Uganda, and The Bowling Foundation is ready to help accelerate the process. After learning of children taking up the sport of bowling by using tattered soccer balls as bowling balls and old plastic bottles as pins, The Bowling Foundation is arranging to send mobile bowling lanes and equipment to a village in Uganda. Bowling has not only led to a physical activity for the children, but also has allowed them to practice their basic math skills as they are learning to keep score on a chalkboard.

USBC releases Bulletin No. 1 for the WTBA Women’s World Championships in Las Vegas

The United States Bowling Congress, host of the 2009 World Tenpin Bowling Association Women’s World Championships has released the Bulletin No. 1 for the championships which will be held from July 24-August 3, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The 2009 WWC will be hosted on 60 lanes, specially constructed inside Cashman Center in which the 2009 USBC Open Championships will be staged prior to the WWC. The host hotel Sunset Station Hotel and Casino’s Strike Zone Bowling Center will host the U.S. Women’s Open immediately after the WWC from Aug 3-9.

After a near flawless performance at the 2008 Pan American Bowling Confederation Women's Championships last month in Santiago, Chile, the six Team USA women who competed in the event have been honored by the United States Olympic Committee.Team USA's Lynda Barnes, Diandra Asbaty, Wendy Macpherson, Kelly Kulick, Liz Johnson and Carolyn Dorin-Ballard finished second in the USOC Team of the Month voting by National Governing Body press officers. The Team USA women dominated the PABCON Women's Championships, earning all six gold medals.

Park, Kunaksorn claim the titles in the last event of the 2008 ABF Tour in Indonesia
Ancol Bowl in Jakarta, Indonesia (Nov. 16, 2008)
Former Korean national team member Park Jin Hee and Sithiphol Kunaksorn from Thailand captured the last titles of the 2008 ABF Tour season Sunday at Ancol Bowl in Jakarta, Indonesia. In the women's title match, Park defeated Zatil Iman, 195-193, after the Malaysian opened in the final two frames. Kunaksorn had games of 224, 228, and 241 on his way to the men's title match where he edged Wu Siu Hong, Hong Kong, by one pin, 230-229. With the 75 ranking points for the victory, both champions made the top 16, who qualified for the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions from Jan. 16-18, 2009 also at Ancol Bowl in Jakarta.

European Bowling Tour announces two important decisions for 2010
According to Kim Thorsgaard Jensen, ETBF Vice President and Director of the European Bowling Tour (EBT), the presidium of the European Tenpin Bowling Federation (ETBF) has made two important decisions for the European Bowling Tour effective in 2010. The presidium added a fourth category and changed the names of the three others. With the beginning of the 2010 season the EBT features Platinum (formerly Premier), Gold (Major), Silver (Challenger) and Satellite Tournaments, a new category with minimum 20.000 prize fund plus some other requirements. Michael Machuga works his way up stepladder to win PBA Chameleon Championship

Michael Machuga and Michelle Feldman captured the Chameleon Championship at Taylor Lanes, the fourth stop on the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour. No. 5 seed Machuga (l.) struck out in the 10th frame to narrowly defeat No. 1 seed Bill O'Neill, 209-204, to win his first title in three years. Machuga only advanced to Sunday's televised finals due to a scoring malfunction during Friday's Round of 16. In the PBA Women's Series, sponsored by the USBC, Feldman (r.) handily defeated Jodi Woessner, 199-173 in the championship match.

After failing to win the Indonesia Open last month, Indonesia's number one bowler Ryan Leonard Lalisang (pictured) let another title slip when he succumbed to Malaysia's Adrian Ang in the stepladder duel at the inaugural Ancol International Open Tenpin Bowling Championship on Saturday. Taking a 213-204 lead into the final round, the Kuwait leg champion Ryan blew the decisive game, falling to eventual victor Ang, 234-167. "I made mistakes and put myself under pressure," Ryan told reporters after the match.

PBA Senior champion Brian Brazeau (pictured), United States, defeated fellow countryman George Palumbo, two-games-to-none, to win the 7th Punta Cana Open in the Dominican Republic, and the $15,000 top prize. Brazeau , who led the qualifying, won the first game, of the title match in in best-of-three games format, 182-161, and shut out Palumbo with a 180-169 win in game two. Palumbo received $7,500 for second place, while Karen Marcano, Venezuela, and Cassidy Schaub, United States, earned $4,500 for third and fourth place, respectively.

In one of the most exciting finals in the 44-year-history, top seeded Derek Eoff (left), United States, defeated No. 2 seed Martin Larsen (right), Sweden, two-games-to-one, to bring the men's title in the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup home to the United States for the second consecutive year. Eoff came back from a 0-1 deficit to win game #2 in roll-off after a 279-289 tie and the decisive game, 278-196. In the opening match, Larsen defeated third-seeded Zulmazran Zulkifli from Malaysia , 2-1.

First-ever victory for Singapore in the BWC history
The women's finals of the 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Hermosillo, Mexico, featured two of the most experienced players, defending champion Ann-Maree-Putney (right), Australia, and Zara Glover, England, and a 20-year-old youngster, No. 1 seeded Jasmine Yeong-Nathan. When the dust had settled the Singaporean (left) won the first-ever World Cup title for her country firing two huge games (263, 298) to dethrone Putney, two-games-to-none. In the opening match, Putney flew past No. 3 Zara Glover of England, 2-0.

O'Neill leads Chameleon Championship; men's finals will feature top five instead of top four
Feldman and Woessner advance to women's finals; ESPN live finals air Sunday at 1 p.m. EST
The Chameleon Championship finals, which were originally scheduled to be a four-man stepladder finals, have become a five-man stepladder finals due to a scoring malfunction during Friday's Round of 16 match play. Bill O'Neill (l.) finished atop the men's field in Friday's match play finishing 12-6 with 7,575 pins to earn the top seed in Sunday's final round. He led the field for the entire tournament. In the Women's Series, sponsored by the U.S. Bowling Congress, Michelle Feldman and Jodi Woessner (r.) finished No. 1 and 2, respectively, to earn spots in Sunday's live ESPN final at at 1 p.m. EST.
