1st september 2008 Thirty-two (32) players from eight (8) countries competed in the Caribbean Mercantile Bank Aruba 10-Ball Classic this past weekend. The Caribbean Billiards Union event sanctioned by CPB, was also a qualifier to the next year’s (2009) Predator International 10-Ball Event to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, organized by Dragon Promotions. Well known Pro Players such as Leo Campos from Peru - South America, and Ike Runnels both living in Chicago, USA were among the early favorites to win the Event but it seems that the “Pool Gods” had other plans in mind. At the end, Ramesh “Danny” Gokhul representing Guyana but residing in the U.K. and local Aruban Hero Allan Van Aanholt were to dispute the Finals.. Allan “Zero-Thunder” went unbeaten throughout the tournament, sending Ike Runnels in the 3rd round, and then sending “Danny” to the one-loss side during the Semi-Final. But "Cool Cat" Danny Gokhul had other plans and worked his way to the final spot to match once again with Zero Thunder. Cool Cat came out with a big 10-3 win against the Thunder and the with the cash prize of $3000 USD. Allan got $1500 USD for his runner-up effort, with Victor Cuccuza from Venezuela making it to the 3rd spot and collecting $750 USD. In 4th place and from Aruba, Mr. Ransley "Psycho" Tromp cashed $500 with an unexpected surprise knock-out of Ike Runnels for the Title run. The Psycho-Man had sent a message to all present on Saturday night when he eliminated 3-Time CPB Panamerican 9-Ball runner-up Luis Miguel Sanchez from Venezuela. $350 each was given to 5th place finishers Ike Runnels and "young gun" Anthony Wever from Curacao. Anthony who was just crowned CPB Panamerican 9-Ball Junior Champion in Nicaragua last week surprised 2002 Panamerican Champion Roland “Ditto” the D-Gun Acosta in the one-loss rounds with a great come-from-behind win. A total of 16 players from Uruguay, Peru, Venezuela, Guadeloupe, Curacao, U.S.A and the U.K traveled to face off against 16 local players. Thanks to all sixteen players that visited the island and special thanks to Caribbean Mercantile Bank, Classic Billiards, Iwan Simonis and the official tournament cue Poison. It was obvious that the players had a lot of fun since they kept playing after the finals till the early morning…. with loud music in a female City. ZERO-THUNDER BACKED UP HIS NAME !!!!

27th august 2008 Oranjestad---There wasn’t a thunder that could hit Allan van Aanholt this week. For the second time this year, he came up big with a strong run through a tough field at the Aruba 10-Ball Nationals. On Sunday a group of 32 please arrived on time at the Classic Billiards. All started with the hope to finish first and some of them are big favorites. On Tuesday only eight were left 4 in-front and 4 in losers round. D-Gun Acosta came out strong pumping up Errel Tromp with a 7-0 whitewash in no-time. Allan also started out with a 4-0 lead on The Wolffman, and finished up 7-2. The other side of the brackets saw Aaron the Baron kicking out The Dutchman 7-4, Rifleman Jansen taking down Gio The Rock 7-3. Next Jansen overcame Errel with 7-2 and The Baron eliminated The Wolffman 7-5. The other-side had a strong fight going on, but at the end Allan beat Acosta 8-6. Back to the “do or die” section The Baron escaped with a 7-6 over The Rifleman. That gave The Baron enough strength to also overcome Ditto Acosta 7-5 to set-up the final of Aruba first ever 10-Ball Nationals which was a repeat of the 2008 9-Ball Nationals. At the end the result was the same but before that, Zero-Thunder showed class taking an 8-0 lead to finish it of 9-3. The tall kid from Chocolate City is now a big hero and deserves a lot of credit for his run on Tuesday over the trio that has dominated pool for a long time. THIS WEEK-END IS THE ARUBA 10-BALL CLASSIC AND ZERO-THUNDER WILL LEAD THE ARUBA GROUP TO FACE OFF AGAINST TOUGH TALENTS FROM THE U.S.A. - PERU - GUYANA - JAMAICA - URUGUAY - VENEZUELA CURACAO THE RIFLEMAN GUNNED DOWN CHOCOLATE CITY !!!!

25th august 2008 Oranjestad---The number #4 stop of the popular BALASHI Aruba Pool Tour was another shock, when Arie Jansen win his first major event. Jansen that started the year pretty slow, geared up at this stop making his way, knocking down strong players. In the end he met fellow team player D-Gun Acosta and in a battle that The Rifle always kept under control he overcame Ditto Acosta with 9-6. It was the APT 10-ball stop and again the APT ranking got a nice shook up. Go to ranking for an update. All Arubians are set for the big ARUBA 10-BALL CLASSIC this week end. Players from South America and the Caribbean are already coming in looking for action. 15th July 2008 Oranjestad--- Last Sunday, Classic Billiards was the venue for the third stop of the BALASHI BEER Aruba Pool Tour 2008. This stop was an 8-ball tournament where the 27 players started in a double elimination format and finished Tuesday night with eight players in a single elimination format. Ransley Tromp a former European and Dutch competitor was showing great skills. He first eliminate Master Ryan Rampersaud 5-2 then he went on to knocked out his brother Fredley ‘Spechoit” Tromp 6-2, next was 2008 National 9-ball Champion Zero-Thunder Allan van Aanholt who saw an advantage of 4-1 reversed to a 4-6 lost to the Psychoman. The finals was not different when ransley Tromp pull another confortable 6-3 win over The Dutchman Martin Appeldoorn who also had a good tournament beating likes of Gunnar Leonardo twice and eliminating the Richard The Wolffman. Next stop is August 17th and this time they will go for the second 10-ball title. WOLFFMAN STRONG AT THE BALASHI 10-BALL TOUR 2nd june 2008

This stop was a 10-ball tournament where the 27 players started in a double elimination format and finished Monday night with eight players in a single elimination format. Monday The Baron draw D-Gun and Acosta beat Franken by the minimum of 7-6. The Psychoman was too strong for Young Gun Marlon Tromp and Ransley won with 7-1. Jorge Terrible from Catire beat Andy Geerman 7-4 and The Wolffman showing great pool beat Elvis Evertsz 7-2. In the semi’s D-Gun was solid and beat Psycho 7-5, The Wolffman continue his domination and beat Jorge Petrocchi 7-4. The finals started with D-Gun dominating the match to 8-6. After a costly missed 10-ball The Wolffman fresh from the International Las Vegas 10-Ball ran to the hill to make it a hill hill final. In a thriller the last rack went to Richard The Wolffman. Oranjestad--- Last Sunday, Smooth Billiards was the venue for the first stop of the Balashi Beer APT. This year the tour has 27 participants, 10 stops and Awg 24.000,00 (Usd $ 13,750.00) in cash prizes. The LG Baron pulled out strong from start and had no problem overcoming his opponents in a convincing way. Monday night eight players were left and it became a single elimination event. The Baron overcame long time friend and former participant of WCP 9-ball Indio Kelboom 7-5. Then he went like a storm over current National 9-Ball Champion Zero-Thunder Allan van Aanholt 7-1. In the finals he matched up with Master Ryan Rampersaud who was in dead-stroke, but the Baron had too much to show and beat Master Ryan 9-6. Go to Ranking for the new 2008 ranking.
