The Cajuns are the hands-down champion of the 2008 CPMSL Fall League after defeating State Farm 9-8 in walk off fashion in the 7th inning of the League Championship game. The Cajuns had also won the 2008 fall regular season championship with an 8-1 record and finish 11-1 overall. If anyone has a digital photo of the team, we will be glad to post it. Please contact Brian or Rick to do so. About the 2008 Fall League Season started on Wed, Sept. 3rd....12 game regular season schedule. Click here for 2008 Fall Schedule Any changes to this original schedule are listed above under "CPMSL News". 2008 Fall League will be 6 teams....where teams will have 1 double-header against each team in the league which will account for 10 games...the remaining 2 games will be single games against 2 different teams. In other words, every team will play each other twice, except will play 2 teams a third game. Games will be mostly Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday...with possibly a Monday or even Friday game thrown in if needed. The 10 man pitching rule (no slingshotting, etc.) will be enforced. - The format was a 3 game tournament (opponents randomly selected) with 6 teams...the top 4 advancing to the Championship Round. The updated schedule/results for Sat, Aug. 2 is as follows: Metzlers 3 vs. AutoMax Eagle 1 at 9 a.m. Lamp Post 9 vs. State Farm 7 at 9 a.m.....Lamp Post needs a grand slam by Zach in the last inning to defeat State Farm, his 2nd over the fence HR of game. Ground Zero 16 vs. Snyders Strikeforce at 10:30 (6 innings) Metzlers 3 vs. Lamp Post Inn 1 at 10:30 State Farm 8 vs. Automax Eagle 6 at noon Ground Zero 11, Lamp Post 3 at 1:30 Automax Eagle defeats Snyders Strikeforce by 2 runs at 1:30 Ground Zero 10, Metzlers 6 at 3 p.m....Metzlers concedes game after rain delay before completion of 7th inning in the interest of finishing the rest of the tournament on Saturday. State Farm over Snyders Strikeforce by 10 runs at 3 p.m. Ground Zero (3-0), State Farm, (2-1), Metzlers (2-1), Automax Eagle (1-2) advance to semi-finals. Lamp Post (1-2) and Snyders Strikeforce (0-3) are eliminated. Automax Eagle and Lamp Post tied for the #4 slot but Automax Eagle had a better run differential as the tie breaker. Semifinals: #1 Ground Zero 10, #4 Automax Eagle 4 (Unofficial score). Automax Eagle takes a 4-0 lead until Ground Zero finally takes the lead around the 5th inning. All 7 innings completed within 1 hour limit. #3 Metzlers 6, #2 State Farm 3....Metzlers advances to Finals in a game shortened to 5 innings due to 1 HR time limit. Ground Zero 4, Metzlers 3....Ground Zero scores a run in the bottom of 6th inning to break a 3-3 tie and holds Metzlers scoreless in 7th to defeat their ELanco League rival for the 2008 CPMSL Championship Click here for Schulkill Modified Softball League website They are hosting the annual Kole Harris Tournament this year on June 6-8, 2008 in Pine Grove. Hershey Med Center was runner-up in 2007 and Lamp Post Inn was tournament champion in 2005. This will be the first year that multi-wall bats will not be allowed in the tournament. The Legal bat list has been updated for 2008....see Headline on right. Click here for Past Modified State champs This include's the Lamp Post Inn of the CPMSL in 2006. At the April 2, 2008 Pre-season meeting it was voted upon to change the Playoff Structure for 2008 to be an 8 team double-elimination tournament with the top 7 teams based on regular season record ranking. There will not be a 3 game championship series as there was in 2007. There will be a single-elimination play-in round to determine the 8th team. This will be #8 vs. #11 and #9 vs. #10....with the two winners playing a game with that winner advancing as the #8 seed to the Double Elimation Tournament. There will be two divisions created soley for competitive reasons as far as having a Regular Season Division Champions and also for having an All-star game between the Divisions. These divisions were broken down based on 2007 records with to divide them up evenly. Odd ranked teams in the National, and even ranked teams in the American....new team assigned to the National. The rankings used for the end-of-season Playoff tournament are based on League rankings and has nothing to do with the Divisions or ranking in the division. About the League The Central PA Modified Fast Pitch Softball League (CPMSL) is a competitive men's softball league (10-man) that plays games in the Harrisburg, PA area (East and West Shores) on weekday evenings (Mon thru Friday) from early May to early August in the summer. Games are played at Creekview Park (Hampden Twp.), Brightbill Park (Lower Paxton Twp.), Elizabethtown Community Field, Marysville Lions Club Fields, and the Hampden Twp. Municipal field. In the fall, we have played in the past at Veteran's Park (Susquehanna Twp.) and Oak Hills (Middletown). If anyone knows of any fields that are available, please let us know!
