What, you're having second thoughts? Be careful what you wish for! So having lived most of my life as a student, albeit maybe a grad student, I am finding it both amusing, then absurd, and now increasingly annoying at how one's perspective changes as a result of receiving a large sum of money. The absurd part is that we're supposed to be in a really down real estate market, nothing is selling. And yet after only a couple of months on the market my mom's house sold and nearly at the asking rate. My two younger sisters and I scratched our heads over that one, but we have to thank those two gay boys for taking one look at the place and falling in love with... Sampras returns to competitive action as we take a brief look back at his illustrious career By Thomas Rooney | December 1, 2008 | Tennis Diary Tennis legend Pete Sampras will return to London for the first time in six years on Tuesday as he takes part in the BlackRock Masters. The American hasn't made an appearance in London since crashing out of Wimbledon's second round back in 2002. The record 14-time Grand Slam champion will participate in the conclusion to the senior season and fascinatingly, he will come up against John McEnroe in the group stages. The pair met three times during their competitive careers, with Sampras winning all three. I imagine that McEnroe will hold this in high significance as he goes head to head with him again. In fact, the often outspoken McEnroe has already signalled his intentions by saying giving a message to Sampras and the other professionals taking part - 'I'm not coming to London to lose'. FUZZED: It's The Team, Stupid By Lexa W. Lee | November 28, 2008 | Tennis Diary We can delve into many ugly truths these days, thanks to the miracle of the internet; we can learn more about everything than ever before possible, for better or worse. Along with the tennis world, I watched most of the Davis Cup final and followed the news and comments in the aftermath of Spain's tremendous victory/Argentina's bloody fall/David Nalbandian faces his inquisitors. The Oscar and Nobel Prize are awards that only bring fame to a few, and do not recognize others who may have been essential in the effort. That's one reason I don't pay much attention to the winners, good or bad. At least Davis Cup is always awarded to a team. However, just as with those other awards, we don't usually hear the whole story behind the win - which are often more interesting than the actual result. You could say that the ATP got what is deserved. It had a year-end championship without its top player - Rafael Nadal's knees couldn't take the pounding anymore, its second ranked player wasn't feeling so good either - Roger Federer hurt his back, and then Federer wore out its fourth ranked player - Andy Murray fell apart in the semifinals after beating Federer in the last round robin match....
