On October the 26th 2007 I joined a group of 59 other motorcyclist from all over the World on the “Riders for Health” “Enduro Africa” tour. Enduro Africa is a motorcycle tour through the Republic of South Africa to raise money and provide motorcycles for local health charities. Full details of Enduro Africa can be found at http://www.enduroafrica.com/home.htm. The aim of Riders for Health and Enduro Africa is not just to raise money for the local health charities however but to also provide motorcycles so that the local health workers are able to travel to patients and provide timely medical attention. A lot of people helped me raise the money I need to go on this trip and I am extremely grateful to them all for giving me the opportunity to take part in such a great trip. If anyone is interested in where we actually went I've produced a set of Google Earth route files (.kml) - there's one for each day. I've attached lots of pushpins with notes of things I can remember, things I can see from the GPS track and things I made a note of along the way. On day 4 I've made a guess at an alternative route that some took - but I didn't do it so it's just a guess. Much of the day 6 route is guessed from memory as my GPS played up that day and I only have bits of the route, I think it's pretty accurate but would welcome any corrections from others who were there. For those who don't know about Google Earth - Its a free download from; http://earth.google.com/index.html Once installed you go to File/Open and find the .kml files I've sent here on your computer - you use the mouse to move about the world and the scroll wheel to zoom in. If you really want fun try selecting a Path for one of the days and go to Tools/Play Tour and watch as you fly along the route - very impressive and we can actually recognize the roads and place we road along. I got my daughter, Emma, a day at the Phil Price Rally School for her 18th Birthday but shortly afterwards a big accident so it took us a while to arrange the visit. When we eventually did get there Emma had a fantastic time. While we were there I took the opportunity to have a full speed ride around a stage with Phil Price driving - bloody hell, what a laxative - BRILLIANT!!!!!!
