Philadelphia Youth Regatta Saturday, July 17, 2004 Official Results Official Results - with FinishLynx photos of close races Entry Deadline: Friday, July 9, 2004 Reminder: Mandatory coach and coxswains meeting, Saturday, 8:00, at the Canoe Club. Regatta Schedule posted. Minor changes. Check again when you arrive on Saturday. July 17 is usually a very hot day. Temperatures mid-day invariably exceed 90 degrees, and in 1998 were over 100. Also, the regatta is small and so has fewer events, with less time between similar events (the GJ1x and GJ2x, for example). It is strongly recommended that no athlete enter more than two events. Check last year's schedule to get an idea of how much time you might have between your events. The regatta will NOT be delayed to accommodate doubling or hot-seating. In the heat, it's just not fair to the other competitors. Order of Events Boy's J16 Four Girl's J16 Four Boy's J16 Quad Girl's J16 Quad Boy's Pair w/o Girl's Pair w/o Boy's Four Girl's J16 Eight Boy's J18 Single Boy's J16 Single Girl's J18 Single Girl's J16 Single Boy's J16 Eight Girl's J18 Four Boy's J18 Double Boy's J16 Double Boy's Eight Girl's J18 Double Girl's J16 Double Girl's Eight Boy's J18 Quad Girl's J18 Quad Boy's Single Dash Girl's Single Dash Boy's Eight Dash Girl's Eight Dash The regatta will be conducted in accordance with USRowing rules of racing. The regatta is open to juniors only. A junior is a competitor who in the current calendar year does not attain the age of 19, or who is and has been continuously enrolled in secondary school as a full time student seeking a diploma. A competitor thus ceases to be a Junior after December 31 of the year of his or her 18th birthday, or of the year in which he or she completes the 12th grade of secondary school, having been a full time student, whichever is later. A junior 16 is a competitor who will not attain the age of 17 in 2004. A competitor's age is determined as of December 31, 2004. All events except the dash races are 2000 meters. Dash races are 1/4 mile. The order of events is fixed and will not be changed. Heats, if required, will be run before the first final in the same order as the finals. The regatta start time is 9:30 a.m. There will be a mandatory coaches and coxswains meeting at the Canoe Club at 8:00 a.m. If necessary, there will be a break in the program after the girl's quad race to permit rowers in the quads to participate in the dash races. No entry fee for the eights dash race is required if the crew entered the 2000 meter eight race. Click here to read how to enter. All entries must be made on-line at Regatta Central by Friday, July 9. Entries received after this date will be accepted on a "lane available" basis and, if accepted, will incur a $10.00 late fee. The printed Regatta Central invoice, entry fees and competitor waivers are due on Wednesday, July 14, 2004. If you pay by credit card and have waivers on file at USRowing, you don't need to send anything. Entry fees: Singles $15.00, Doubles & Pairs $25.00, Quads & Fours $50.00, Eights $65.00 Make checks payable to: Schuylkill Navy If not paying by credit card at Regatta Central, send all entries and fees to: Philadelphia Youth Regatta, c/o Schuylkill Navy of Philadelphia, #4 Boathouse Row, Kelly Drive, Philadelphia, PA 19130.
