Update… Halloween D-Ball

Been awhile, kids. Dodgeball has been a little up and down lately. Things are being addressed to keep it on the more “up” side, if you will. That requires everyone to come out, play hard, leave everything at the door, and just have fun. No more camping the sides. No more sniping people you don’t like. Just play. Plain and simple. In other news, we’re holding the annual Halloween Dodgeball night on Thursday. It should be an absolute blast. Costumes are practically required, but if you don’t have one it’s alright. Midterm Update
October 9th, 2008
Dodgeball tonight as always, 9:30 at the Ray. If each and every one of you that live in a dorm bring a friend who’s never been to dodgeball we could have an awesome crowd. Let’s try that. Couple tidbits of stuff… - The intramural/campus-wide tournament I’ve spoken a little bit about it currently in the works. It’s either gonna be in late October or early November. It’ll likely occur on a Thursday night (butting into actual dodgeball club time, but that’s cool) and into the weekend, possibly just Friday though. I’ll keep everyone posted, and once it’s in the books and calendars over at the Ray, we’ll be flyering and setting up tables all around campus to sign people up. I’ll also fill everyone in as to the format of the thing soon. - October means Halloween, which also means dodgeball getting even a little bit crazier. We have an annual Halloween dodgeball night here, where everyone dresses up like an idiot and looks even stupider getting rocked in the head. It’s a blast and there’s often prizes involved, so make sure you stay tuned with that one. Flyers coming soon for that too. - Also, the Aberdeen/UIC folk host a dodgeball tournament on Halloween evening every year, and it’s oftentimes one of the best dodgeball events of the whole year. I’ll talk more about that in coming weeks, but it’s a good way to get a feel for how other people play and what to expect at tournaments outside of DePaul. Many of you know already, but Dodgeball was canceled last Thursday due to a power outage at the Ray. We are fortunately back on tonight, since the Ray has gotten their issues sorted out. First night record shattered… Wow

Tonight was a tremendous success, to say the least. Thanks for all who showed up. We broke the record for the most people at the first night of dodgeball of the year by a whopping 30 people… yes, 120 people showed up. Absolutely insane. If you’re wondering, the head shots and sick plays we’re incredibly abundant. We will have a few pictures of the night up soon. And we did complete the goal of putting the old picture of night #2 last year to shame.   Come visit us and tell your friends to sign up for the email list at the Involvement Fair this Sunday from 1-5 PM in the Student Center. We’ll be the guys rocking out to 80’s metal and making sick, twisted jokes about all things labeled as taboo. Also, make sure you brush up on the rules. Granted, it was the first night, but take notice of stuff like the front neutral zone line, dead ball rules, etc. The rules are to your right. Laters… - Captain Rape Sauce

3 Days… Watch for us

What’s up ladies and gentlemen. Today was Real Life Recess, and despite the rain there was a fair number of people who showed up. I’m hoping for about 100 ballers on the first night, so even though recruitment and promotion is going well, make sure you spread the word. For those of you that are new to dodgeball, remember we start on Thursday, Sept. 11th @ 9:30 in the Ray Meyer, 3rd Floor courts. We play on Mondays and Thursdays, just like we always have, at 9:30 @ the Ray for the whole school year. Everyone will need to sign a waiver to play, so if you feel like getting it out of the way early, here’s the link. Fill out the top portion (basic info.) on the first page and the relevant parts of the second page. Print it and bring it to me on Thursday. Just as a recommendation, come early on Thursday so we can get the paperwork out of the way and start on time. We’ll be around campus flyering for the next few days. Come talk to us, we’re just as lame and annoying as we look, but we’ll get you into the best club at this school. - Jack Attack

Dodgeball is coming…

It’s been a long time, ladies and gents. Dodgeball is a week and a half away. We start on Thursday, September 11th @ 9:30 PM on the 3rd floor courts of the Ray Meyer. Prepare for war. With the start of the school year comes promotional events. Real Life Recess is on Monday, Sept. 8th in the Quad from 3:30-6:30 PM and the Student Involvement Fair is on Sunday, Sept. 14th from 1:00-5:00 PM in the Lincoln Park Student Center. If you’re new to DePaul or the club, come visit us. We’ll tell you about how good it feels to rock someone in the face with a rubber ball. In conclusion, for you freshmen that actually have seen those flyers, more will be up shortly, likely in the residence halls. Make sure your friends know about the club if you haven’t told them already. And also, I’ll be around campus handing out flyers and such a lot this week. Summer Update

What up folks. It’s been awhile. Just a few quick things. First off, I failed to mention before the school year was over that we have new officers for the 2008-2009 year. Ben Rusch (AKA Steve Nash) is now Vice President, smart Alex Synakowski is now club secretary, Bryan “The Mouth” Simpson and Mike L. are now in control of promotion and advertising, and I’m now the club president. We’ll eventually talk about who the club captains will be. Few more things; I’m trying to set up a campus wide tournament deal first term that we would promote the expletive out of and get a ton of people involved in. I’m also gonna try to set up something we’ve had in the works with the Chicago Rush (Arena Football) for sometime, involving playing during halftime at a Rush game. Lets get excited kids, less than a month and a half until dodgeball. - Jack Attack

Dodgeball is officially over for 07-08

It’s remarkable to say it, but tonight was the last night of dodgeball. This years class was incredible, and really helped rebuild the club and create a new identity after losing a bunch of seniors last year. It would take way too long and bore way too many of you to talk about the whole year, but simply put it was fantastic, and exceeded all my expectations. Now that the year is over, we pretty much need to quickly transition to next year, despite summer. Those of you that are here need to keep in touch with me if you wanna help hang flyers all over campus for the orientation kids to see. This is probably the best way of creating interest, closely followed by spamming the DePaul class of 2012 facebook page. I’ll link it at the bottom so you can request an invite and let the kids know whassup. Keep posting on the DePaul Dodgeball topic and on the wall.
