Important USA Cycling 2009 License Update
For 2009, USA Cycling (USAC) will be changing their license terms from Pro, Semi-Pro, Expert, Sport, and Beginner to Pro, Category 1, Category 2, and Category 3.
For the 2009 license period starting now, the USAC computer will make the following change to your annual license in their files and your 2009 USAC license will reflect the following:
-If you are are Pro in 2008 there will be no change
-Semi-Pro riders will have to option of taking out a 2009 license either as a Pro (at $150)
or as a Category 1 at the normal annual fee of $60.
-Current Expert riders will become Category 1
-Current Sport riders will become Category 2
-Current Beginner riders will become Category 3
There will be no increase in the annual USAC license fee of $60. However, the one day
insurance surchage fee of $2.00 will increase to $3.00. Currently, this fee is included in your entry fee and sent to the USAC with the post event report. I believe the current $5.00 one day fee for non-licensed riders will remain the same.
We have not made a determination if we will have to raise our entry fees.
Sand Creek Sports is looking at holding three single-day weekend races and several Wednesday races plus a separate Fall Classic. Venues have been selected as well as tentative dates. We are currently waiting for venue/date approval as well as sponsorship approvals.

Sand Creek Sports is now in possesion of the only complete 2009 Colorado mountain bike race schedule! We hope to be able to schedule our 2009 Sand Creek Series races and a new separate race once we recontact our venues and finish our sponsor contracts. This complete schedule will be posted on this site as soon as the Mountain States Cup schedule is finalized. This schedule has USA Cycling sanctioned races and non-sanctioned races on it and this site will probably be the only place either on the web or in print where it will be available. Preparation for the 2009 season is well under way on a daily basis.

What started out to be just three small Wednesday races in which we hoped for 30-35 riders at the first race to break even turned into those three plus the Cheyenne Mountain State Park race.
The three Sand Creek Series races would not have happened without El Paso County Parks effort to build the trails using Colorado Springs cycling resourses and the very important race sponsorship provided by Ascent Cycling. Without El Paso County Parks and Ascent Cycling there would have been no races and no 2009 races coming up.
A very special thank you to all of our riders, staff of 14(!) and sponsors for a great Sand Creek Fall Classic! Everything was on time and perfectly executed...as we always do for you!

Tour of Oaxaca
With single track no wider than a water bottle, this is something all of our Sand Creek Series and Sand Creek Fall Classic riders would really enjoy. Tours vary and our guide and his staff are very accommodating. Pedro Martinez, our guide, is a former Mexican National Champion! Remember, the cerveza is always cold, the beach warm (winter is coming here), world class surfing, and they have something we don't have here...real Mexican food! Homeless Mtb Woman
Updated as of October 16th so as to not offend any more people...too bad!
This is a "Homeless Mtb Woman." "Homeless Mtb Woman" was spotted across from the Townhouse Lounge in Manitou Springs on Saturday, October 4th.
She is currently living in (on) a borrowed "trailer home", has "health" insurance and is "out of work."
Her story is that she was commissioned and paid for by a local arts group which is or will be selling her to the City of Colorado Springs. The City of Colorado Springs has changed its mind three times about her location and now her Manitou Springs artist must keep her until the City decides what to do with her.
The City of Colorado Springs, as we all so well know, has so much to offer the cycling world. Please follow this link from the City of Colorado Springs Dept. of Transportation. Also, follow this link about our Bicycle Friendly Community.
The "Homeless Mtb Woman" may even have a real title, but for now, she remains on the trail to nowhere.

Sand Creek Sports, Inc. and Bicicletas Pedro Martinez are now able to offer Mexican bicycle tours for
both road and mountain bike trips in Mexico. These Mexican bicycle tours are in the Southern Mexican State of Oaxaca and are guided by Mexican Cycling Champion Pedro Martinez and his experienced staff.
Pedro now has a 36 passenger bus for bicycle road tours in Oaxaca. This is in addition to his long established Oaxaca mountain bike tours using his 4-wheel drive Jeeps.

Pikes Peak Region Tours
The mountain and road cycling in the Pikes Peak Region in the Colorado Springs and the Manitou Springs
areas, in the shadow of "America's Mountain" are some of the finest anywhere.
In addition to helping people go to Oaxaca, Mexico (the last group left at the end of October, 2008), Sand Creek Sports, Inc. has been arranging local tours for out of State groups. Tours in the Pikes Peak Region of Colorado Springs, either on the road or in the mountains, are all "custom built." Bike rentals, tour guides, meals, and even lodging can be arranged through our extensive local cycling contacts and resources.
Here is what a group from Texas just had to say about their August 2008 Colorado Springs retreat and road bike ride at the US Air Force Academy: "I wanted to get back with you on the bike tour. The group had a fabulous time. In fact, several of them said it was the best event ever for our firm retreat--which is a very high compliment considering all the places this group has been on retreat. Obviously, it would not have happened without your help. If you are ever in Dallas, let me know and I'll try to plan something just as wonderful Texas style."
