Edwards Wins Race, Johnson Takes Third Straight Title
HOMESTEAD-MIAMI -- Jimmie Johnson has accomplished racing's version of the hat trick.... three championships in a row.
He did it with a 15th -place finish in southern Florida's grand finale for the NASCAR Sprint Cup championship. Carl Edwards won the battle, so to speak, but Johnson won the war.
On a day when he only needed a 36th-place finish to clinch his third title in a row, Johnson brought his Lowe's Chevrolet into the thick of the battle, steadily clicking off position after position in the 267-lap race.
Johnson's championship run was the first three-peat in NASCAR since Cale Yarborough did it 30 years ago.
While Johnson and crew chief Chad Knaus were the men of the hour, hard-charging Edwards, for the second time this season, coaxed extra mileage out of his Ford and hung on to win the race on fuel mileage. However, it was... [Read More]

In what is scheduled to be the last show of 2008 Colorado Motorsports Weekly will have Kelly Boen and Jerry Robertson joining the discussion live in the studio tonight.
A reveiw of the 2008 season and a preveiw of 2009 will be the topics. Kelly catured his fourth straight NCRA Late Model Championship in 2008 and Jerry may have some surprises for race fans in his discussion of 2009.
The program is on the Rocky Mountain Radio network tonight starting at 7PM.

Yahoo hasnt released the final standings yet but Dan (91 Crew Chief) is the unnoficial champion. I hope everyone had fun playing. I know I got into it alot and cheered when my drivers did good and  when they blew up, crashed etc. (BIFFLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I hope you all come back to play in 2009, and if needed we will have 2 leagues so more the 50 can play.

Driver promotions and fan activities not affected by ban

HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- There will still be a Preseason Thunder at Daytona International Speedway -- just without the thunder.
Track president Robin Braig said Saturday that NASCAR has assured him that the promotional element of the two weeks of testing that historically precede the Daytona 500 will not be affected by the ban on testing that the sanctioning body announced this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The ban encompasses all tracks that host Sprint Cup, Nationwide, Truck Series and Camping World touring events.

David Murray Jr. picks up the big money with the A-feature win, at Lav Vegas Duel in the Desert. There were 6 BST drivers names that I recognized in the A feature, way to go BST.
1st - David Murray
8th - Will Brack
13th - Ronnie Wallace
14th - Justin Yeager
21st - Jeremy Frenier
24th - Ricky Alvarado
Yeager, and Alvarado advanced to the A-main by winning their last chance race.
Alvarado was battling for second on lap 19 when the motor expired, leaving him backwards on the track in turn 2 as the field roared by.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (November 15, 2008) -- Carl Edwards won the battle, but Clint Bowyer won the war.
Edwards took the checkered flag in the Ford 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, depriving runner-up Kyle Busch of a record 11th victory in a single season.
But Edwards couldn't put enough distance between his No. 60 Ford and the No. 2 Chevrolet of Clint Bowyer, who claimed his first NASCAR Nationwide championship with a fifth-place finish. Bowyer entered the race with a 56-point lead over Edwards and won the title by 21 points.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (November 14, 2008) -- Todd Bodine may have won Friday night's Ford 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, but a pair of calls in the pits earned Johnny Benson a seventh-place finish—exactly what he needed to secure the series championship.
After pitting for four tires under caution on Lap 126, Ron Hornaday Jr. chased Benson to the stripe during a green-white-checkered-flag finish that took the race three laps beyond its scheduled 134-lap distance. Hornaday came home eighth, one position behind Benson and one position short of his fourth series championship.
Benson's team changed plans at the last second and kept the No. 23 Toyota on the track during that caution, and that decision proved to be the winning move.

For the final time in 2008, the Chase for the Sprint Cup qualifiers put it on the line for speed, and the two drivers still alive for the title had vastly different outcomes on Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Carl Edwards, who must win and lead the most laps to have any shot at points leader Jimmie Johnson, did not look as if he was conceding anything to Johnson on his qualifying lap, and he will enjoy a big advantage when the green flag waves on Sunday.
