Welcome, My name is Tom Wendell (a.k.a.Doc Mono). The purpose of this
web site is twofold:
First, to share information on how using a monoski, bicycling and taking
specific supplements has enabled me to continue skiing despite having
had 13 knee surgeries and a diagnosis of progressive, degenerative
joint disease in my right knee for over 25 years. Here you'll find links
to how I use sound nutritional principles, herbs, vitamins and
specific supplements, anti-inflammatory and
anti-oxidant rich foods, bicycling, yoga and visualization to help me
recover from repeated (and future) surgeries, sports injuries and the
effects of aging.
The second purpose of this site is to attract sponsors whose products
or services would benefit from the exposure they would receive from my
(now public) endeavor to overcome my medical challenges. I intend to operate
this site as a "how to" guide to help others overcome injuries and the
effects of aging and still participate in vigorous sports activities.
I'm committed to having a surgically reconstructed knee and be skiing
a monoski and riding a bike at a high performance level by my 50th birthday
on April 13, 2001(see knee page for an update). Particularly, I would like to garner support from the
orthopedic, nutritional, holistic, neutraceutical, monoski, bicycle, and
physical therapy sectors.
