Dempster and the Cubs agreed to a four-year contract worth $52 million, the Associated Press reports.
Dempster will receive a $4 million signing bonus, $8 million next year, $12.5 million in 2010 and $13.5 million in 2011. He also has an option for 2012 that'd be worth $14 million. Dempster, 31, is coming off what was easily the best season of his career, having gone 17-6 with 187 strikeouts, a 2.96 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP.
