International Ref David Davies says awarding points against Ghana, Nigeria is illegal. Eight time World Cup Referee and Chair of the WAFF Referee's Committee David Davies has challenged the awarding of goals against teams in forfeited matches.In the recent World Cup tournament in Antalya, Turkey, Turkish officials awarded three points against Ghana and Nigeria in matches said to be forfeited.Davies says that's against the Rules."I note that two teams did not compete in the competition and the are deemed to have lost games 3 goals to nil. "This your organization cannot do. In law they lose only the points if they do not play. They cannot lose goals under any circumstances.This would and is not acceptable to FIFA , UEFA or any national FA it must be changed the table as shown cannot stand as it is shown."Teams can only be deducted points for failure to complete fixtures or for other infractions of the regulations, rules governing the tournament or competition. "A competition my not or cannot have a goal deficit included in the rules because you cannot score goals in a game that did not happen!" We gave both the Turkish organizing committee and WAFF officials the opportunity to respond to Mr. Davies comments but we've received no responses whatsoever. WAFF Election Questions Remain UnansweredThe WAFF has been given the opportunity to respond to questions on apparent election irregularities, but it remains unresponsive. Our question remains: What does the WAFF have to hide?
