This Twenty20 International between Asia XI and Africa XI at the M.Chinnaswamy

of the 14-man squad, to be led by Mahela Jayawardene, the Sri Lankan captain.

gets underway with the Twenty20 International and this will be followed

Bangladesh Tour of Sri Lanka (Test Match)
Test cricket returns to the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the venue
famous for holding the world record Test total of 952 for 6 by Sri Lanka,
when it hosts the first Test of the three-match series against Bangladesh
next month. The series, which also includes three ODIs, gets underway
on June 25. These games will have live cricket commentary on them and

The Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy, will host the third Test starting on July
11. The Saravanamuttu Stadium will host the second Test from July 3. These
can Bangladesh are due to arrive in Colombo on June 17 and wind off their

Twenty20 World Cup 2007 (Twenty20 International)
The Twenty20 tournament in September will feature 12 teams, including
the 10 Test-playing countries. It will last nine days and the ten test
nations automatically qualify, South Africa will host the 2007 tournament.
There will be a group stage where all 12 teams are split up into 4 groups,
with 3 teams in each group. They will play each other once. Then the top
two teams will go through to the next round, which is the Super Eight
Series. After the twelfth match in the Super Eight Series, 4 of the top
teams will go through to the Semi Finals. Then the two winners of the
Semi Finals will go through to the Finals. You can catch the whole of

Twenty20 World Cup 2007-
The Twenty20 World Cup that is being hosted by South Africa, in September
2007, is the first of its kind. The Twenty20 game has being played by
County cricket sides in England before and it proved to be a big success.
The tournament is organised by ICC, the International Cricket Council.
All of the test playing nations will compete in the World Cup, plus qualifiers.
In total there will be 12 teams competing in the competition. 10 test
nation sides and two that qualify through the World Cricket League event
in January and February. The World Cup will last for a total of nine days.
The ten test playing nation teams that will compete in the World Cup are:
England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lankia, Bangladesh,
Pakistan, India, the West Indies and Zimbabwe. Scotland and Kenya both
qualified through the qualification stage.
This is how the games are broken
down-
Group A- South Africa, the
West Indies and Bangladesh
Group B- Australia, England and Zimbabwe
Group C- New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Kenya
Group D- Pakistan, India and Scotland
Each teams in the groups will play
each other once and the top two teams in each group will go through to

Qualification for the Twenty20 World
Cup took place in January and February. The national teams without test
status play in an ICC World Cricket League that is a series of one day
games. The top two teams from the qualifiers will get entry into the Twenty20
World Cup.
The nation that is hosting the tournament,
which takes place every two years, automatically qualifies. The executive
committee vote on who they want to host each Twenty20 tournament. The
decision is based on the nations that want to host the tournament. South
Africa will host the tournament this year, England in 2009, Sri Lanka
in 2012 and Bangladesh in 2014.
The Twenty20 game was reported to
have being invented and supported by county clubs in England. A Twenty20
match between Middle and Surry saw the highest attendance for a cricket
match for over 50 years in England. It has now spread throughout the World
and lots of countries started to play exhibition matches.
This year is the first ever Twenty20
World Cup tournament. This is a start of a new era. The Twenty20 games

successes to the cricketing world. It is expected to be around for a long
time, due to the fact that the tournament is fun and action packed. It
is believed that Twenty20 cricket is set to transform the cricketing world.
It is replacing the boring, dull world of test match cricket which was
slowly replaced by ODI matches. 20-20 cricket is now replacing both of
these. The 20-20 World Cup is a chance for doubters of the tournament
to see why it has taken the cricketing world by storm and hopefully it
will mean more success for the sport.
The Twenty20 matches are a chance
for batsmen to show off what they can do. The matches last for one day
and at the end of the day there has to be a winner. Each team has 20 over's
to score as many runs as possible, hence why it is called Twenty20. Whereas
One Day International matches are played with 50 over's each, Twenty20
is designed to have short innings so that teams have to play attacking,
exciting and hit big shots. Each batsman therefore has a chance to make
a name for them and their team. The game also means that batsmen have
less pressure to stay at the crease for longer, as there are only 20 over's
to play by each side and they are expected to hit big shots and take a

Australia are favorites to be the winners. But with it being a tournament
where batsman can be unpredictable there are no certain favorites. Teams
like Sri Lanka, who lost out in the final of the World Cup, and South
Africa will also be hoping to reach the final and prove they are still
