NZ team to World Junior Championships Madrid
TTNZ is pleased to announce the Under 18 girls team to represent New Zealand at the

Thanks to Ron Garrett
On behalf of the TTNZ Board, and I am sure from all Associations and table
tennis players throughout the country, I would like to express sincere thanks to Ron
Garrett for his outstanding work over the past year.
Despite initially agreeing to a short interim engagement of three months in April 2007 Ron
has been involved in keeping the TTNZ ship on course through until concluding his service
on the 30th of September this year. Ron’s ability to cut to the chase and to
recognise solutions to problems has enabled the Board to get through a very difficult
year. The work is not over yet to return TTNZ circumstances to any sort of comfort zone,
but we are on the way and this is due in no small way to Ron’s efforts.
I would like to remind all Associations of the upcoming AGM in Palmerston North 15th/16th
November. Our very efficient Admin Officer, Gina Connell has sent out notices requesting
your input by way of nominations for Board positions, Awards of various kinds and a
request that any remits be submitted. As always time is of the essence and please take
note of the cut off dates for the aforementioned.

Executive ChairmanAlan Moore
has from 1 October 2008 assumed the role of Executive Chairman, taking over Ron Garrett's
duties on a temporary basis until the role of Administrative Officer/ Executive Director
is discussed at the AGM and the resultant role filled.
TTNZ Office Administration has on a temporary basis moved to Auckland
and the Wellington Office closed. Phone, Box number and email addresses remain the same
and will be received by Mrs Gina Connell.

presented to Murray Finch for his contribution to NZ Universities Table

World Junior Circuit - NZ success
The NZ Junior Girls' team beat Australia 3-2 to win a place in the World Junior
Championships to be held in December 2008. The Boys team lost 1-3 to Australia.

The TTNZ Umpires and Referees Committee is pleased to announce that Malcolm
Wong and Richard Ammundsen have successfully passed the
International Umpire exam. Both these umpires have been working very hard towards reaching
this goal and it is good to see their efforts rewarded. Naturally they understand that
there is still more hard work ahead to progress further along the pathway to Blue Badge
and regular work at major tournaments.
The International Umpires exam is held only once every two years so for any umpires who
are at National level and wish to be on the candidate list for 2010 you have some time
available to work on your practical skills and improvement of your knowledge of the Laws
and Regulations.
